national day brings fond memories. somehow, you feel a bit prouder to be Singaporean during the month of August when you see the many flags dotting the HDB block, when they have repeated replays of the year's national day song. I like this year's national day song- I'm thankful for my Singapore.
Although I'd love to sit in the midst of the crowd and feel the atmosphere, but I'm terrified of crowds and the aftermath of going home. Therefore, I sit at grandma's place with relatives and eat curry. I guess it can't get more Singaporean than this.
Thank you Lord for putting me in such a safe and peaceful place. Thank you that there's pandan cake whenever I feel like eating (therefore reducing the danger of me burning off my hand attempting to make one), that TPY has so many shops that I feel like I can be a hermit here. Thank you that I can eat my lu ya fan (duck rice), bimbimbap, prata, sushi and longtong all in the same food court.

Although the fig tree shall not blossom
neither shall fruit be in the vines;
the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat;
the flock shall be cut off from the fold,
and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk 3:17-18
This lullaby is only a few words
A simple run of chords
Quiet here in this spare room
But you can hear it, hear it
Wherever you may go
I will let you down
But this lullaby plays on
