Psalm 1
Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly
Nor standeth in the way of sinners
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful
But his delight is in the law of the Lord
And in His law he meditate day and night
And he shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water

this is the first Psalm of the book of Psalms.
The Hebrew word for 'blessing' comes from a word which means 'to go straight, go forward, advance, set right"
Only those who fulfill the condition are blessed. The real foundation of God's blessedness is dwelling in God's word.

There are three degrees of habit or conduct; walk/stand/sit
There are three degrees of openness, fellowship or involvement in evil: Counsel/ way/seat
There are three degrees of evil that result: ungodly/sinners/ scoffers

There are so many lessons from these few verses alone. I need such fervor, and such passion for studying the bible.

This lullaby is only a few words
A simple run of chords
Quiet here in this spare room
But you can hear it, hear it
Wherever you may go
I will let you down
But this lullaby plays on
